Coronavirus Vaccine Arrives In Corvallis

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

More Oregon hospitals are getting their first shipments of vaccines meant to protect against the coronavirus.

Samaritan Health in Corvallis said it got its first batch Thursday, and planned to start administering the first doses to health care workers on Friday.

People are already asking the hospital when it will be their turn, said Adam Brady, an infectious disease specialist who heads up Samaritan’s Coronavirus Task Force.

“We have started getting a lot of those calls," he said during an online presentation. "But we don’t anticipate having vaccine for non-health care workers probably until the end of January or the early part of February at the earliest.”

Brady said Samaritan will partner with local county health departments to reach as many people as possible. He said plans are underway for mass vaccination clinics.
