Lane County Public Health officials praised communities Tuesday for what they call a downturn in COVID-19 case numbers.
Over the last two weeks, the number of new cases has been decreasing. Spokesperson Jason Davis said this will hopefully have an effect on moving the county from the “extreme” to “high” risk level.
“Our message to our community is ‘keep doing’ what you are doing. It’s working. Thank you,’” he said.
Davis urged residents to keep masking, distancing and limiting social gatherings.
On the vaccination front: 26,332 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Lane County with 6,414 people being fully vaccinated.
Davis said 3,600 doses were allocated to the county this week and all will be used to inoculate educators in Phase 1B.
However, some hospitals have offered extra doses so the county can do another mass vax clinic for people in 1A. This weekend’s event is invitation-only. For more Lane County Vaccine Information, click here.
