Linn County Public Health’s plans to begin vaccinating 5 to 11 year olds against this week fell through when their allotment of pediatric vaccines did not arrive. But health officials said all is not lost.
Todd Noble is director of the Linn County Health Department. He said he doesn’t know what caused the vaccine delivery snafu. But, he added many local pediatric clinics did receive their first shipments. “And frankly that’s where most children will be vaccinated, in pediatric offices and primary care. Very few probably done at mass vaccination sites although we will be doing some,” said Noble.
Linn County Public Health will resume plans to offer vax clinics for little kids once the county’s allocations arrive. Maybe next week--perhaps the week after, he said.
Meantime, residents 12 and older can get the COVID vaccine at Boulder Falls in Lebanon, via a mobile clinic and at the Linn County fairgrounds throughout December.
