Rain Or Shine, Eugene's Earth Day At The Park Is A Go

Eugene is celebrating Earth Day a little late this year. Organizers were forced to cancel the traditional event held at the downtown EWEB parking lot because of changes to the Eugene Springfield Fire Department's permit requirements. In response, activist Sabrina Siegel decided to celebrate the Earth in Alton Baker Park Saturday. She says this is a critical time for the planet.

Siegel: "Our leaders aren't caring about the planet, they're not caring about us, and they are not taking the necessary actions to preserve things and to turn things around."

Siegel says some of the original vendors and activist tents will be at Saturday Earth Day event. Siegel says they are calling it Earth Day at the Park. There will be live music, environmental speakers, and family activities. The event is Saturday from 2 to 7 pm at Alton Baker Park rain or shine.
