Florence residents asked for a better neighborhood park, and this week, they get it. The city just finished improvements at Pepperoaks Park.

Pepperoaks Park is tucked away in the 34th Place cul-de-sac. It’s one of five small neighborhood parks in Florence, known as pocket parks.

Megan Messmer is with the City of Florence. She says Pepperoaks former play structure was deteriorating and outdated. Messmer says volunteers helped install the new playground equipment.

Messmer: “There’s a little play structure with a couple slides on it, there’s a swing set with two different swings, and then we do have that little climbing wall there. So there’s several activities for children.”

Messmer says more than 20 thousand dollars in grant money helped fund the improvements. Donations and city funds contributed about another 16 thousand dollars.

The Grand Re-opening is Friday, April 8th, at 1:30 p.m. The event is open to the public, and conveniently scheduled on

As part of the Florence Public Works added wood fiber fall surface and walking paths from the sidewalk to the playground.
