A local nonprofit that lends tools for a low cost to Lane County residents has received grant dollars from a state agency. And it’s planning to use that money to expand. KLCC’s Deonna Anderson reports.

The Toolbox Project received about $34,000 from the Oregon Department of Environmental Quality. Toolbox Project board member Laura Keir shares how they plan to use those funds.

“Part of the grant is to hire an operations manager and that person will help the toolbox project to streamline and make more efficient the systems that we already have in place and also be able to expand our tool inventory,” Keir says.

She says they also plan to purchase a tricycle. They’ll use it to deliver tools to people with transportation or access issues.
