Recreational fires, including those in backyard fire pits, will be banned throughout Lincoln County starting Friday, August 13.
The ban also applies to outdoor debris burning. The Lincoln County Fire Defense Board says moisture levels of wildfire fuels are at an all-time low.
While wildfires are less common along the Oregon coast, a rapidly spreading blaze destroyed hundreds of homes near Lincoln City last September.
W"ith the Echo Mountain Complex Fires not at all forgotten, let this proactive measure serve as a reminder that we take last year’s events seriously," said a press release from the Lincoln County Fire Defense Board.
