Filing opened earlier in September for candidates hoping to run for local office.  There was a smattering of activity, but the only incumbent to declare candidacy early on was Lane County Commissioner Faye Stewart.

Now two more incumbents have made it official.

Eugene City Councilor George Poling says he will run for a fourth term.  Poling represents Ward 4 – northeast Eugene – and currently serves on the LTD–EMX Steering committee and the Travel Lane County Committee.

Poling was one of two councilors Monday night who voted against an ordinance allowing homeless camps in the city.

Poling: "Once you allow people to leave tents and properties and move port-o-potties and garbage receptacles in… That's no longer a rest stop, that's a campground."

Lane County Commissioner Jay Bozievich also announced Tuesday he will seek re-election.  Bozievich is part of the conservative majority on the County Commission.  He represents West Lane, a large swath from Veneta to Florence, and lives in Elmira.

One other candidate has filed to run for West Lane commissioner.  Dawn Lesley is an Engineer and a member of the Eugene Sustainability Committee.

The election is this coming May.
