Lane County is updating their master plan for parks and is inviting the public to comment. There are meetings this week in Eugene and Veneta.

1980. That’s when Lane County first created a Parks Master Plan. 35 years later the county is seeking comments on its updated draft. Once finalized it will guide management of county parks from 2016 into 2036.

Park’s Manager Mike Russell: “We want to provide diverse high quality recreation opportunity for folks, and also recognize the need for high value preservation and enhancement of natural areas that we have, so how do we balance that over the next 20 years. That’s what this plan is laying out.”

The next generation of Lane County public parks could include more trails, improved campgrounds and marinas, and opportunities for expansion. You can find details about upcoming meetings at Lane County’s website.
