Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will return to Oregon on Tuesday, May 10, to hold a campaign rally in Salem.
This will be Sanders' first stop in the Oregon state capital, having made trips to Portland and Springfield already this year.
The Vermont Senator returns to Oregon ahead of the state primary election on May 17 — one in which he hopes to perform well. Sanders told OPB he thinks his team stands "a good chance to win in Oregon and to win in a majority of the states that are yet in front of us," in an interview with Think Out Loud.
Sanders currently trails former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by nearly 300 delegates, but is coming off a victory in Indiana, from which he hopes to build momentum.
Clinton has yet to visit Oregon ahead of the primary, though her husband, former President Bill Clinton, has made two trips to Portland, including one last week. The president also campaigned for his wife in Bend.
Sanders will speak at the Salem Armory Auditorium on Tuesday with doors set to open at 4 p.m.
The event is free and open to the public.
