The Eugene City Council and Lane County showed they were willing to work together on the downtown landscape at last night’s joint meeting.

The joint meeting was scheduled in hopes to make headway on three downtown projects: the farmers market, Eugene city hall and the Lane County courthouse.

So far, there are currently three different location arrangements for these downtown establishments. No decision was made on which one the city and county will select.

Pete Sorenson with the Lane County Commission cautioned against simply scheduling another meeting going forward.

“I hope that there’s an outcome here besides another meeting" says Sorenson. "But if another meeting is an outcome, that will be an improvement, because that will be faster than two years ago.”

The City Council will further discuss a joint downtown task force in its July 18 meeting.
