(Christy Inskip for Oregon House District Seven)

Legislative candidate Christy Inskip launched her campaign for Oregon’s 7th District today. KLCC’s Alec Cowan caught up with the Democratic nominee to hear more about her campaign.

Inskip’s campaign is centered on supporting small business and securing sustainable jobs and pay for district residents. She also hopes to increase access to education and healthcare, especially in rural areas.

Inskip says that her roots and time in Cottage Grove motivated her to run for office:

“I actually grew up poor and we didn’t have a lot of money. I know what it’s like to struggle and I know what it’s like to not have opportunities to get ahead. And since my husband Eric and I have lived in Cottage Grove, we’ve seen the same thing. Folks are amazing in District 7, folks are strong and resilient and independent – and they’re hurting.”

District 7 comprises East and South Lane County, as well as North Douglas County. Inskip will run against incumbent Republican Cedric Hayden.
