Friday, January 7, is the First Friday of 2022! What I love about First Fridays is a chance to dress up a bit and go make the art scene. I meet so many of YOU in the First Friday galleries. I love how a stranger will say, “Hey! I recognize that voice!” You introduce yourself to me, and once again the magic happens—a stranger becomes a friend!

I love how the gallery owners work so hard to show off their artists. This Friday, go up into the festive Gordon Alley and visit the Karin Clarke Gallery at the Gordon. Painter Heather Jacks is their featured artist, and you’ll fall into her wide skies, her endless vistas lush with the pale dove gray and peach tones of dawn.

Oh, and Latin music there at the Alley starts at 6:30!

While you’re in the area, go back across the street and up the stairs to the second floor of the Market to a gallery called “Art with Alejandro.” He has a fun business that includes a “Paint Your Pet” night.

Okay, this will be fast, but I want to give you a kaleidoscope collage view of the party Friday:

Lincoln Gallery at 309 W. 4th has “Glow Up,” a series of light installations.

Then wander downtown. At Allies 131 E. 11th in addition to all the art, Joseph Steven will be playing guitar and singing for a couple hours starting at 6:30.

New Zone at 110 E. 11th has a show by our own Patti McNutt called “Water Scenes and Coastal Dreams.”

Epic Seconds at 30 E. 11th has large oils by Iris Lucille Keuter, lyrical and layered.

At the Broadway Commerce Center at 44 W. Broadway, David Placencia has fun 3-D artwork made with blown bubbles, painterly landscapes—a lifetime of wonderful art.

See what I mean? It's a Eugene Scene! And if you hear me there, say hi and watch the magic happen.
