After 46 years in Oregon, Julie Daniel, former director of Bring Recycling in Eugene, will become a U.S. citizen this week. She says she wants to use her new status to help other immigrants who may not have the same resources.

Daniel told KLCC’s Rachael McDonald that after the 2016 election, she reconsidered her relationship with her adopted home.

Daniel's party and fundraiser is Friday, November 16th, from 2-6 p.m. at Claim 52 Kitchen, 1203 Willamette Street, Eugene. Claim 52 will donate $1 for each pint of beer, cider or kombucha sold during the event to GLAD, Grupo Latino de Accion Directa of Lane County.
