The new Hayward Field has been ready and set for quite a while; now, it’s nearly “go” time. The University of Oregon announced today (Wednesday) the venue will host its first invitational meet, the Hayward Premiere, on April 2nd and 3rd.

UO Athletics will allow only a limited number of families and guests of athletes and coaches to attend the first meet. Head Coach Robert Johnson said in a statement, “Part of that Hayward magic will be missing without the fans.” The announcement said they’ll work with public health authorities to welcome spectators when it’s safe to do so.

The Hayward Premiere will be the first meet in Eugene since the 2018 NCAA Championships. The Ducks will host four more college invites this season: The West Coast Classic April 17th, Oregon Relays April 23rd-24th, the Oregon Twilight May 7th, and the NCAA Championships June 9th to 12th.
