Hayward Field

More than 10,000 runners from all over the U.S. and globe ran the Eugene Marathon Sunday. The event holds personal meaning for many participants, as well as administers an economic booster shot for the immediate region.

The Eugene Marathon and Half Marathon on Sunday expects a record-shattering number of runners. Officials say 10,000 runners are signed up for Sunday’s races, and another 4,000 for Saturday’s 5-kilometer race and kids’ Duck Dash.

Though they shook hands post-race, Bednarek was fired up well after the sprinters had left the track.

The final track and field meet at Eugene’s Hayward Field this year is coming up.

The day's most anticipated race was the 100, which featured the top three finishers from the Paris Olympics.

The elite, international track meet will feature Olympians and former UO athletes.

Buoyed by top performances in the hammer throw, high jump and 400 meters, the Georgia women’s track and field squad distanced itself from the opposition and cruised to its first outdoor national championship in team history. Georgia lapped the field with 73 points ahead of runners-up USC (47) and third place Texas A&M (43).

Oregon athletes have had a good showing in the first two days of the NCAA track and field championships at Hayward Field.

This week, Eugene hosts the biggest college track and field meet of the year.

Friday, May 30, marks 50 years since the death of legendary Oregon distance runner Steve Prefontaine.

For the first time ever, Hayward Field is the site of the Big Ten Track and Field Championships.

It’s track and field season in TrackTown USA, and this weekend offers two days of collegiate competition in Eugene.
