Ernesto J. Martinez

University of Oregon literature professor Ernesto Javier Martinez wrote a children's book called "When You Love Someone You Sing To Them".

The story is about a young Mexican American boy who learns from his father, a musician, about the tradition of serenading in their family. The boy asks his father if a boy can sing to another boy. There's also a short film, La Serenata, based on the story.

Martinez speaks with Jill Torres and Carolina Arredondo Sanchez Lira on KLCC's Ahora Si.
