Eugene Reminds Residents Playgrounds and Skateparks are Still Closed

City of Eugene

Despite Lane County’s approval from Governor Brown to enter Phase one of reopening, the City of Eugene reminds the public that playgrounds, skate parks and sport courts are still closed.

Parks, trails and natural areas are still open with physical distancing on all paths and trails. The City of Eugene asks park visitors to follow Oregon Health Authority’s guidelines on park use which is available on the OHA website.

The city is allowing temporary camping as long as it is not within neighborhood parks. They also require safety, no criminal behavior and that it does not pose a significant threat to public or environmental health or safety. Park staff are working with campers to try to keep their sites as clean as possible.

Parks and Open Space staff are also working hard to maintain critical services such as garbage pickup, restroom cleaning, mowing, addressing graffiti, vandalism and safety hazards throughout the park system.
