The Holiday Farm Fire has grown to more than 161,826 acres and 5% contained. At  a virtual community meeting Saturday, the message was that the recovery from this disaster will be long and painful.

Fire crews are now searching for human remains and assessing building damage. A special team from Washington State is helping with the efforts. Heather Buch, Lane County Commissioner, said the impact of the fire will be devastating.

“For the McKenzie and Blue River community that is displaced from this horrific fire, I want you to know that all of Lane County is grieving with you. We are all here to support you and we will be here for as long as it takes.”

Buch thanked the firefighters and first responders and asked the community to do what they can to support those who’ve lost their homes. Others spoke of how the stunning McKenzie River highway will never be the same after this fire.
