Garth Brooks’ record-breaking concert at Autzen Stadium Saturday brought a lot of tourism to the Eugene and Springfield area.
Andy Vobora from Travel Lane County, says this event came at an opportune time for local businesses. With Hayward Field under construction, the NCAA track meets and the Prefontaine Classic were not held here this Spring.
Vobora also notes that they hope this concert sets a precedent for putting on more events that draw massive crowds.
“I think when the rest of the world sees that we can manage an event like this and that it goes really well, it gives confidence to other performers that maybe this is a great place to stop,” says Vobora.
Travel Lane County estimates the concert had a larger economic impact than Oregon football games, which typically bring in about $6 million.
