School board members had a busy weekend, interviewing seven candidates. They selected three finalists, all of whom have ties to Oregon and currently hold superintendent positions. Jennifer Geller is the school board member chairing the search:

Geller: “Dr. Gustavo Balderas grew up in Oregon and also worked for the Hillsboro School District. Dr. Heather Cordie is in Sherwood in the state of Oregon, and Dr. Sloan Presidio is in Virginia now, but he has worked both in Hillsboro and in the 4J school district.”

The school board hopes to make a final decision before spring break. The new superintendent will start July first. Geller says community input has been instrumental throughout the process. The public is invited to meet the finalists Thursday at 6 pm at the 4J Education Center.
