Eugene School District 4J Kicks Off School Choice Events & Lottery Process

Eugene School District 4J

Eugene School District 4J is offering parents and students ways to help choose which school to attend next year.

4J has a long-standing system of allowing families to apply for enrollment in schools outside their neighborhood. Spokeswoman Kerry Delf explains.

Delf: "And most families choose to attend their neighborhood school; it's often the best choice for that family. For any number of reasons, parents are also often interested in attending a different school. That might be an alternative school with a special program like language immersion or it just might be a different neighborhood school that they're interested in or is more   conveniently located."

During the next several weeks 4J is offering parents opportunities to learn more about the schools and how the application and lottery process works. Families who live outside the district can also apply during an open enrollment period that begins in March.
