The Eugene 4J School board is holding several community forums about a potential bond measure to be placed on an upcoming ballot- possibly in November. KLCC’s Briana Friden reports.
Tuesday night was the first forum of 6 planned in the upcoming weeks, held at several locations around Eugene. Kerry Delf, 4J spokesperson, says there’s been a lot of interest. She says the district has many unfunded needs, and having face to face conversations helps them better understand those needs.
“No one bond measure would cover all of the potential projects so it’s important to prioritize what’s most important to continue to provide strong schools for our students and our community, and to meet the priorities that our community wants to support.”
Priorities include replacing or significantly renovating some of the district’s older school buildings, safety and security improvements, modernizing curriculum and updating technology.
Delf says the forums are set up so that community members can move around and converse with school district officials.
