Eugene School District to Host 4J Elementary School Showcase

Eugene families are invited to the 4J Elementary School Showcase on Saturday morning. At the event, parents can learn about their options for choosing a school other than the one assigned to their neighborhood, and the school choice process for the 2020-21 school year.

The 4J information fair gives parents an opportunity to talk with representatives from every 4J elementary school and sign up for school visits.

At the last school board meeting in December, Chief of Staff Kerry Delf explained why 4J has a school choice policy.

“The approach is to remove barriers between schools [and] allow families to access different educational options,” said Delf.

The school showcase will be at the 4J Education Center on Saturday, January 11, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Spanish interpretation will be provided.

The application period for district residents is through January 31. Families outside of the school district can apply from March 1st through 31. School choice requests are determined by a lottery.
