The Eugene School Board has unanimously approved an interim superintendent.
Cydney Vandercar is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services. She’ll be the second woman to lead Eugene School District 4J since it was formed in 1854.
Wednesday's vote came after the board received input from dozens of community members.
Vandercar replaces Gustavo Balderas, who has led the district for the past five years. He leaves in June to be superintendent of a larger school district near Seattle.
