Lane County COVID-19 Infection Rate Sees Downward Trend

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

A Lane County Public Health official, Jason Davis, said the daily rate of COVID-19 cases and rate of infection are still trending downward. And Davis said they want those to keep going down, especially as college students return to the area for fall term.

Davis said those students will likely be socializing, so efforts are underway by the University of Oregon to limit transmission.

"They've been communicating with parents and students along the way,” said Davis. “They have weekly and sometimes daily updates on the COVID-19 situation. And they just released a big document regarding their safety plans. Really, the first step in all of this is education."

According to Lane County Public Health, of the 672 cases recorded in Lane County so far (8/27), 25 percent are for people between the ages of 21 and 30.
