The Oregon Health Authority Saturday reported 988 new and presumptive cases of COVID-19. This is the highest number reported on a single day since the start of the pandemic in Oregon.
COVID-19 has claimed 13 more lives in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 729, OHA reported Saturday.
The total number of cases in Oregon is now at 49,587.
Governor Kate Brown Friday announced she was putting five Oregon counties on a twe-week pause for social gatherings. She and OHA leaders pleaded with the public to stay home as much as possible, wear masks, socially distance and avoid social gatherings.
One of the deaths announced Saturday by OHA is a 79-year old man in Lane County who tested positive on Oct. 5 and died on Oct. 19 at his residence. He had underlying conditions.
On Saturday, there were 8 more cases announced in Benton County, 32 in Deschutes County, 23 in Douglas County, 75 more cases in Lane County, and 12 new cases in Linn County.
