Senator Jeff Merkley held a rally Saturday on the Lane Community College campus in Eugene in support of the Affordable Care Act. This was part of a national day of action by democratic leaders.

Senator Merkley was joined by hundreds of people as he rallied supporters of the ACA.
Merkley: “Are you all ready to join the fight?” [cheers]
Merkley told the crowd his republican colleagues are worried because people are dependent on health coverage through the Affordable Care Act.
Shannon: “My brother is alive because of the ACA and he will die without it.”
Anne Shannon of Portland says her brother has hepatitis C and wasn’t able to get health coverage until the ACA was passed.
Shannon: “I really want to apply a lot of pressure to the Dems to frame this fight as murder on the part of the GOP. Because it is. It’s real murder of real lives. Real people. People in our families all over this country.”
At the rally, Senator Merkley urged people to make their voices heard and to run for local office.
