Majority Of Dunes City Voters Ban Marijuana

Petr Cerny

Marijuana is legal in Oregon, but now sales, processing, and production are all banned in the coastal Lane County community of Dunes City.

Last night, nearly two-thirds of voters there backed Measure 20-293.  A city official says the ban does not apply to existing grows.  She says there are already two estimated recreational grows, and eleven estimated medical grows.

The measure’s passage also exempts Dunes City from receiving a portion of Oregon’s marijuana tax revenue.

The Oregon Liquor Control Commission says more than 90 cities or counties have marijuana bans.
