Springfield Chooses New City Manager

City of Springfield

Springfield has chosen a new City Manager. Nancy Newton was extended an offer this week. She’s currently the Assistant Executive for Sacramento County in California.

Springfield Mayor Christine Lundberg says Newton was the unanimous choice of the city council. She also heard from members of staff and the public.

“Those that had been at the, we call, meet and greet, many of them came up to me, and I know councilors, afterward, and expressed their support for, particularly Nancy.”

Newton will replace Gino Grimaldi as Springfield City Manager. He retired in June of 2019. Mary Bridget Smith has served as interim since then.
