Emergency evacuation plans are being developed for six specific sites in Lane County, and officials are asking for public input.
Patence Winningham is Lane County’s Emergency Manager. She says a survey has been put online for area residents to share their preparedness for disasters including floods and wildfires.
“Do you have a plan? If there is an event, do you know which way to evacuate to? What kind of tools do you have to inform you? Do you have a cell phone, do you have a radio, do you have TV? Those are some of the questions that they’ll encounter.”
The six areas are Mapleton, Swisshome, Crow-Applegate, Lorane, Row River, and the service area for Eugene Number One Rural Fire Protection District. There will be a process for developing additional emergency evacuation plans for other areas in Lane County.
The surveydeadline is March 31st. The plans are being developed with the University of Oregon’s Institute for Policy Research and Engagement.
