UCC Appoints New Interim President

Casper Journal

Umpqua Community College Wednesday appointed Dr. Walter Nolte as its new interim president.
Nolte is 67.

He began his career in the northwest as an instructor at the University of Puget Sound. He served as president of North Central Missouri College for 18 years. More recently, he was at Caspar College in Wyoming. He led that campus through recovery from an attack that resulted in the death of two people.
Nolte says he is pleased to come to UCC and help with healing from the October 1st shootings.
Current interim president Rita Cavin will stay on to help with the transition.
The UCC Board is also seeking a permanent president. Nolte says he’ll serve until a new leader is named.
