Hot Days Follow Memorial Day in Oregon

Cassandra Profita

This week, Oregon is experiencing a preview of what's to come this summer. In the Willamette Valley, highs are forecast around 90 degrees midweek and next weekend.

Jeremiah Pyle is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Portland. He says this summer is expected to be another hot one.
Pyle: "The forecasts that we're seeing from the Climate Prediction Center are for a warmer than normal summer here over the Pacific Northwest. So there can be a lot of variability from month to month."
The northwest has experienced hot summers over recent years—last summer included a record number of 90 degree days in a row. Pyle says it may be a cooler and wetter fall as a La Niña weather pattern is expected later in the year.
