Two Oregon Counties See COVID-19 Case Jump, Loss Of Life Over Weekend

Over the weekend, there were 81 new COVID-19 cases in Lane County. Meanwhile, neighboring Douglas County confirmed three new deaths from the disease.

As COVID-19 continues to actively spread in communities, public health officials urge everyone to remain vigilant in protecting themselves and others. As often as needs repeating, they say masking and social distancing- along with regular hand hygiene- remains best practice for preventing transmission.

At last check Monday, Oct. 26, there has been a total of 2,393 cases confirmed in Lane County, the majority occurring in and around the Eugene-Springfield area.

In more rural Douglas County, there’s been a 45% increase in cases over the last six weeks, including four COVID-19 related deaths during that period. Just over the weekend, three residents died from COVID-19. A 66 year old woman and  two men, aged 61 and 64 years. The total number of cases is Douglas Co. is now 351.
