A new facial covering policy is in effect at the University of Oregon. All faculty, students and visitors must now use masks or cloth face coverings while indoors and outdoors -- in public spaces on campus. That’s regardless of whether 6 feet of distance can be maintained or not.
The COVID-19 safety regulations released by the University on Thursday include guidance on “what to do if someone is not wearing a face covering.” It suggests starting with inquiry instead of judgement and respectfully providing information of the new safety regulations.
There are exceptions to the campus mask rule. One is when a student or employee has a disability or medical condition that prevents them from putting on, taking off or wearing a face covering.
The U of O’s Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards is responsible for implementing and enforcing the safety rules for students.
