Holli Johnson was appointed to the Lane Community College Board of Education this week. She was chosen by unanimous vote by the board to fill the Zone 1 seat.
Johnson, of west Eugene, is the first African American woman to serve on Lane’s board. She currently coordinates the African American/ Black Student Success Program for Lane ESD (Education Service District). She’s worked in education for 25 years.
Johnson was appointed to fill the seat after former board member Melanie Muenzer stepped down to accept a position with the Biden Administration. The term expires in June of 2021. Four LCC Board of Education seats are up for election on May 18, 2021: Zones 1, 3, 4, and 5.
