Eugene Approves "Dusk to Dawn" Proposal

The Eugene City Council has approved a pilot program that allows homeless people to camp in approved sites overnight.

The council Monday extended the time period of the program beyond the original "dusk to dawn" proposal. The ordinance is in effect immediately but City Manager John Ruiz will come back to the council with at least one proposed site before the  Council goes on winter break on December 17th. Churches, organizations and businesses are encouraged to come forward with sites as well.

The hours for the overnight sights are 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
