The Oregon Department of Forestry announced Thursday some of the fires in the Willamette Valley that began burning earlier this week are in the process of being extinguished.

ODF said Wednesday that more than 20 fires had started in the Willamette Valley.

The fires are under investigation, but officials believed many of them were prescribed burns that rekindled due to recent dry and windy weather.

Firefighters are in the process of extinguishing fires near Gates, Sheridan, Molalla and Detroit, ODF said in an update. Those fires have not grown in the past day.

The fires did not threaten any structures or close any roads.
