Western Oregon University president announces retirement
Western Oregon University President Rex Fuller Thursday announced in an email to the campus community that he will be retiring next September, following the end of his current contract.
Fuller has been president at the Monmouth university for more than five years. He said he and his wife, Susan, are looking to move closer to family.
Fuller said in announcing this decision now, the WOU board will have enough time to conduct a search to hire a new president.
“I would like to stress that I am committed to finishing the work we have defined for 2020-21,” Fuller wrote. He said that work includes completing the university’s budget restructuring process and working in the upcoming biennial legislative session to secure funding for WOU’s capital projects.
“Finally, a major component of my efforts will be to work with campus leaders to position Western to a balance of enrollment, state funding and external funding to ensure a sustainable future,” Fuller wrote.
