Students and employees of Lane Community College have until the end of this week to confirm their COVID-19 vaccination status, or request an exemption.

The college already has vaccine requirements in place, but they haven’t had the technology to collect that information said LCC provost Paul Jarrell.

"We worked with a third-party vendor to be able to put the software and technology in place to collect that," he said, "it took a few weeks for that to get that up and running and [Monday] was the first day that, that was open for the community to submit information."

Students and employees will receive an email with instructions to fill out a form that asks several questions about their vaccination status like what type of vaccine they received and when the were vaccinated. The deadline is Oct. 29.

“[Students and employees] will be considered delinquent if they don’t have information submitted by Monday next week, and then depending upon whether you’re an employee or student the ramifications would be a little bit different.”

Jarrell said students who miss the deadline will have a hold on their registration. Religious and medical exemptions are available for both students and employees. Students taking online classes only and not going to campus can also be exempt.

Note: Lane Community College holds the station license for KLCC.
