Join us for a special evening of music, culture, and solidarity in support of Ukraine. This benefit concert features the captivating talents of master folklorist and ethnosinger Inna Kovtun, accompanied by guitarist Michael Caruso.
Inna Kovtun, a renowned Ukrainian artist, is a true weaver of traditions. She's a
songwriter, teacher, and researcher who has dedicated her life to preserving
Ukrainian history, rites, dances, fairy tales, and music. A collector of ancient songs
from Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldavia, and Tatar cultures, Inna brings a vibrant tapestry
of sound to the stage.
Since relocating to Portland, OR with her daughter at the start of the war, Inna has become a cornerstone of the city's Ukrainian community. She has also shared her passion for traditional Ukrainian folk singing with audiences across the country, leading workshops in New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, Seattle, and of
course, Portland.
This special evening will include:
• A captivating performance by Inna Kovtun and Michael Caruso
• A short presentation by Yulia Brockdorf, representative from the Portland-based Ukraine aid organization Dawn (https://dawnus.org/), about their critical work
supporting Ukraine.
• Insightful commentary by Inna Kovtun on the rich traditions woven into the performance.
• Raffle items and T-shirt sales
All revenues – ticket fees, other sales, donations – from this event will go directly to DAWN, INC, providing vital assistance to the people of Ukraine during
