Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) 90th Anniversary Gala: Junior Orchestra & String Ensembles
Eugene-Springfield Youth Orchestras (ESYO) 90th Anniversary Gala: Junior Orchestra & String Ensembles
ESYO will celebrate its wonderful 90th Anniversary Gala in style on April 20, 2024. We are proud to
present over 150 student musicians participating in this exciting event. Selected by popular vote, our
advanced musicians will play Jean Sibelius’ Finlandia as a grand finale with ESYO alumni. Eugene Mayor
Lucy Vinis will make a proclamation celebrating the 90th Anniversary of ESYO and its influence in shaping
the lives of over 5,000 young people in our community.
At 4:00pm in Beall Hall, the Concert will kick off with performances from ESYO's earliest ensemble players
in String Academy 2, the auditioned intermediate musicians of Little Symphony and the symphonic Junior
Orchestra. As an audience member, you can experience the wonderful musical accomplishments of young
learners in elementary through the middle and lower high school years.
ESYO will have a Birthday Party celebration at 5:00pm in Room 190 next to Beall Hall. All attendees and
performers are invited for refreshments and social time.
At 7:30pm in Beall Hall, The Eugene-Springfield Youth Symphony, directed by Dr. David Jacobs, presents a
brief showcase performance. ESYO's premier Youth Orchestra will be joined for a side-by-side selection
with Junior Orchestra musicians and for a grand finale with ESYO alumni players. Many of these alumni
are professional musicians and have generously contributed towards ESYO’s success.
At 8:45pm in the elegant Tykeson Rehearsal Hall, there will be a ticketed wine and cheese reception -
“Cheers to ESYO’s 90 Years” to cap off the evening.
