“Music” Brings Harmony to Gallery Calapooia
This holiday season, Gallery Calapooia will hum with rhythm, color, and creativity as artists Anna Harris and Shannon Ross take center stage in their joint exhibition, “Music.”
The show invites viewers to see — and feel — the pulse of melody and movement through paint, form, and imagination.
Artist Bio: Anna Harris
Anna enjoys learning new ways to mix design, symbolism, and media throughout her compositions. Over time, she has found her greatest artistic passion lies in the study and personification of nature. Advocating for the environment and the importance of biodiversity, Anna often paints animals in a way that highlights their beauty, value, and unique quirks. Art offers Anna a way to appreciate and explore nature in a hands-on way. In the show, “Music,” Anna engages with an art form she always wished she had pursued, music, in a variety of forms that are most familiar to her: acrylic, watercolor, and ink.
Anna is a founding member of Gallery Calapooia.
Artist Bio: Shannon Ross
Shannon loves making ceramics that bring merriment and joy to everyday items. Her influences for her hand-built vessels and sculpture range from Art Nouveau illustrations of flowers to natural elements like birds, plants and animals. For her newest body of work she was influenced by focusing on music and how she could incorporate that into her whimsical animals. A fun combination, playfully blending animal attributes, Shannon creates Ocarinas and chimes as well as gives new life inhabited by her whimsical creatures to a discarded flute and clarinet, resulting in truly one-of-a-kind work.
