Friends of the Children – Lane County invites the community to explore its new Clubhouse, hear from Executive Director Matt Springer about its partnership with Springfield Public Schools, and connect with program staff. Attendees will tour the Room of Regulation, play in the Rumpus Room, browse books in the Library Corner, and build a fortress with the Buzzi Cubes. This event is free and open to the public, all ages welcome.

Parking info: There is plenty of free 2-hour street parking in the area. Please do NOT park in the lot on the Lincoln Street side of the building as these are dedicated spaces for other businesses. After 4:30, there is a limited a limited number of parking spots in the lot on the east side of the building. You can park here beginning at 4:30 but not prior.

Accessibility: We are on the 2nd floor, accessed by either a short flight of stairs or via the elevator.

Friends of the Children helps youth and families who face the greatest obstacles. The organization’s mission is to disrupt the cycles of intergenerational poverty and disadvantage by providing children with a long-term professional mentor. Mentors work 1:1 with each child, beginning when a child is between the ages of 4-6 years. The organization continues to provide this child with a 1:1 professional mentor for 12+ years, through the end of high school. Its model of intensive, professional support has proven outcomes that demonstrate early intervention is effective (and cost-efficient). By attending to a child’s social and emotional development, as well as strengthening their literacy skills, Friends of the Children – Lane County helps enable school and relationship success.
