Parkinson's Warriors Gym Grand Opening - Eugene
A new gym in west Eugene is helping people fight the progression of the world’s fastest-growing neurological disease. Parkinson’s Disease currently affects more than 1 million Americans, and locally it is estimated that at least 1,200 Lane County residents are living with this disease.
Research has shown that movement is one of the best methods to combat the progression of Parkinson’s disease. The Oregon Parkinson’s Warriors gym offers a wide range of strength, stamina and stretching exercises, plus non-contact boxing to stimulate physical and cognitive skills.
A grand opening of the Parkinson’s Warriors gym will be held Saturday, August 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the gym, 4065 W 11th Ave. #50. The event will include live music, refreshments, silent auction and raffle fundraising as well as demonstrations of training techniques.
