Santa Lucia Pageant and Festival
Santa Lucia Pageant and Festival
Join Ebbert UMC for a celebration of light and hope in the winter darkness as we celebrate St. Lucia’s Day, a beloved Scandinavian Advent tradition.
Enjoy a music-filled service in Ebbert’s historic sanctuary in downtown Springfield, followed by cocoa, baked goods, and crafts.
The service begins at 6:00 PM. Doors open at 5:30 PM on Saturday, December 13.
The pageant is led by a girl in a white dress with a crown of candles and evergreens who represents St. Lucia. She is followed by children carrying candles and singing songs in English, Swedish and Norwegian.
Children and youth in Kindergarten through 12th grade who would like to be part of the pageant may register online. Registration is free and open to girls and boys.
On Friday, December 12, at 6:00 PM, participants will prepare their costumes from our collection (you are welcome to bring your own, if you have one).
The group will gather again at 3:00 PM on the day of the event to continue their preparations and learn the songs.
