Suspicious And Aggressive Door-To-Door Sales Reported In Eugene / Springfield

www.theinsideteam.co.uk

Police say aggressive and suspicious door-to-door sales have been on the rise in the Eugene-Springfield area. Citizens have reported activities at homes near Coburg Road, South Eugene, and Delta Highway / Ayers Road.

Eugene Police say solicitors have tried to sell obscure cleaning solutions and magazine subscriptions. In one case during March, one report claimed the person was using “highly aggressive” sales tactics. EPD spokeswoman Debbie Jannecek  says many solicitors are legitimate, but there are certain requirements they have to fulfill.

Jannecek: “For example in their first 30 second of contact with you, they have to tell you who they are, who they represent, what business they represent, what they are selling. And they have to ask your permission to sell their sales presentation with you. If you say “No, you aren’t interested,” it needs to stop there. If you ask them to leave, they need to leave.”

Jannecek says they also have to have a photo ID and proof they work for the company they claim to. There is no obligation to invite someone in your home. EPD suggests talking to a stranger through a door before opening it.
