Multi-State Price Fixing Settlement Includes Oregonians, Includes Refund.

Oregonians have until August 1st to file claims as part of a 310 million dollar multi-state settlement. If you purchased an electronic device between 1998 and 2002, you are eligible to submit a claim, and you don't even need a receipt.

Major manufacturers of Dynamic Random Access Memory computer chips or DRAM were accused of fixing prices. Oregon and 35 other states are involved in the lawsuit. Most devices qualify for at least a 10$ refund. Oregon Department of Justice Spokesperson Kristina Edmunson says the 4 step process to apply is simple.

Edmunson: "It's as easy as filling out a simple form with really just your contact information, the product you purchased and it can be as generic as DVD player. And then you will fill out a little bit of information verifying that you are the person you are and you will be included in the settlement."

Edmunson says getting the word out about the settlement isn't the same as private law firms. She says the DOJ rarely uses independent advertising to inform the public about settlements. Refunds will be issued after final court approval and the resolution of any appeals.
