Former Rotary Club Captain Arrested for Theft
A former club captain for Rotary Club of Eugene Airport is accused of stealing $5,000 in raffle ticket proceeds last year.
The president of the United Rotary Clubs of Lane County reported the theft this summer. After a months-long investigation, Corrine Koke, age 42, was arrested last week and charged with first degree theft. She had collected raffle tickets and money but allegedly used the funds for personal living expenses.
Judi Beard-Strubing is the Past District Governor and a Rotarian since 1993 at the same club as Koke.
“It’s such a disappointment when somebody you’ve trusted seems to have let you down. To find that someone apparently misused the funds is very disappointing.”
Beard-Strubing says the Rotary will continue the raffle and will assign two people at each club who will be responsible for counting money to help prevent stealing.
