Eugene Police locate driver involved in fatal hit and run

Eugene Police are looking for this white, full-sized van in connection to a Saturday, Jan. 9, 2022 hit and run near the area of W. 11th and Oakpatch.

Eugene Police located the suspect in connection to a fatal hit and run that occurred Saturday near the area of W. 11th and Oakpatch.

EPD says a white, full-sized van struck and killed a pedestrian Saturday at 5:25 pm. Police found the van near the intersection of Clear Lake Road and Territorial Highway on Sunday. According to a release, Eugene Police officers, a K9 unit and a Drone Team operator responded and observed an individual inside the van. The suspect was reported to be suicidal, and had access to a firearm. Officers hailed the occupant, which was later confirmed to be the suspect. The suspect complied with commands and detained without incident. Police recovered a firearm.

The suspect, Parker William Volberg, age 29, was booked with a charge of Felony Hit and Run. The name of the victim has not been released.
